MTV True Life Chooses Deaf Student

MTV is coming to town.

MTV is producing a documentary, True Life, I'm Deaf and has chosen Aubrey Millar from my hometown. You may remember Aubrey from a previous post:

The Oldest Goes off to High School.

David and Aubrey have been friends since they were babies. I'm so excited for Aubrey and I look forward to watching this documentary unfold!

Update:
MTV came and shot footage for two days. Now it's a matter of going back to the producer and determining if they'll select Aubrey for the documentary or search for others.

Great scoop, Karen! I'm only sorry my newsletter went out an hour ago or I would have included this wonderful news. You should be getting a bit of extra traffic from HearingExchange today. :)

Exciting!!! I wonder when it will air? I'm really excited to see that series. I love the name Aubrey, too- that was our "girl" pick (Nolan ended up being a boy, lol).

I hope she's not getting a CI for the sake of the show...can you please clarify if CI will be an issue in this show? I can't remember what the original press release said from MTV's True Life.

It is my understanding that there will be other participants in this documentary.

I never thought I'd be pro MTV at this point in my life, but it sounds like they are doing something good!

Ahhh NO she is not getting a CI for the sake of a t.v. show!! I believe they are following 1 or 2 others as well, I know they are filming someone in New Jersey. I think they wanted to follow someone going through the CI process but not 100% sure who it is.

Yeah. My friend Chris is gonna be on that show too. They came to Jersey for a couple days and filmed him. Chris is really an amazing guy. The first time I met him he just started signing to me and then his younger brother started translating. Hes honestly one of the most kind people I have ever met. FYI The show airs this Friday, July 13 and then again on July 20 I believe. They filmed at this place called the Grist Mill where a bunch of people hang out every Friday so I'm gonna try and get a tv there so all of us can watch it.

Chris - I'm so glad you can hear now. I was so smiley when you were on TV and learning all the new sounds. You seem like a very nice person and I gotta admit (like all the other girls) you are very cute lol
