Ten Things About Me--Aren't You Thrilled?

I've been tagged by Christy at Christy's Coffee Break to share "Ten Interesting Things About Me."

So here goes:

1) My favorite color is purple. Oddly enough, I don't have much purple in my house, but my college roommate and I once won a decorating contest for the "Best Dorm Room." It was covered in purple, of course.

2) I love books. I belong to BookHands, a bookclub where everyone is deaf. We converse using sign language.

3) Toxic people drive me nuts. I'm on a mission to eliminate the toxic people in my life. Life is too short for people who have a negative view of life.

4) I once surprised my husband by driving off with a friend's motorcycle. He had no clue that I knew how to ride one. A special thanks goes to Tim Brown, who taught me to ride his dirt bike one summer.

5) Speaking of fast things, I'm on a mission to get a jet ski by next summer. It's a harmless way to handle a mid-life crisis. Hmm... should I start a "Jet Ski For Karen" fund?

6) I love steak. More specifically, I love steak from Outback. Nothing puts a smile on my face quicker than a gift card from Outback. The hubby knows just how to score on Mother's Day, Christmas and my birthday.

7) I'm stone deaf when my hearing aids come out. Don't bother arguing with me--I have a magical "off" switch on my hearing aids.

8) My ultimate favorite organization is Hands & Voices. I've met a lot of neat people there.

9) I hate housework. My mom loves it. She is so disappointed that the "clean" gene somehow skipped me. Fortunately, when my mom visits, the fridge gets cleaned out, the cabinets get wiped down and the blinds get vacuumed. I'm trying to convince my mom to visit more often.

10) Enough about me-- tell me something about YOU. You're next!

I've always wanted to join a bookclub! I have tried online, but I think it would be a lot more fun face to face. I'll have to look for one in my area.

Motorcycles are SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally love steak from Applebees... SO GOOD, especially with garlic mashed potatoes... *happy sigh*

I hate housework too. Can your mom visit me? lol

Hi Karen, your not only interesting but your cool too. I would definitely set up a jet ski fund, lol.

Please ask your mother if she'd like to come clean out my cupboards. I'm in Canada, and it might be a long trip but if she loves to clean maybe she'd be willing to travel.

Believe it or not I've never been to Outback, I'm thinking I'm missing out and better go soon.

Thanks so much for participating in this meme! Have a great night:)

I hate housework too. Although I always feel much happier in a clean house, I just can't get myself to actually do it...

Thanks for the visit!

I love that astronaut picture. So funny! I think they can see the dust in my house, too.

That's a great meme. I always enjoy finding out more about fellow bloggers. Now I want some steak and chocolate desserts from your book club.

Thank you for visiting!

I haven't tried the steak from Outback yet! Hubby grills a mean steak, and I tend to be a little too loyal.(If we ever divorced I'd be screwed.)

I'm with you on the housework. I actually host playgroups here sometimes just because it forces me to clean.

My aunt was deaf without her hearing aids. She was married to my mom's brother. He was an absolute jerk, but they stayed together over 60 years. Once my mom asked her, "What's the secret? How'd you put up with him for so long?"

My aunt said, "Whenever he starts in ranting or yelling, I just turn my hearing aids off and then occasionally nod. If you don't hear it, it can't make you bitter or angry."

Now see, I have to close my eyes as well as turn off the hearing aids when I'm mad at the hubby. :)

I call those toxic people my "basement people" and those who are encouragers are my "balcony people"! I have no idea where I heard that but it has stuck with me!

I love the idea of BookHands...neat! I'm going to link your blog from Gus' Gang (www.gusgang.blogspot.com) because I think you have a lot of info about Deafness and HOH...I think some of my readers there would enjoy your blog!

Hi Karen

First time I've dropped by here.

Love you're number 7 - my granddad used to win every argument the same way!

Very interesting learning more about you. I too enjoy Outback, though I prefer the Texas Roadhouse for their sweet potatoes. Mmm, mmm, good!

And books...Oh boy, I love books!

Wow, we are sisters under the skin (or layer of dust - lol) I love purple, hate housecleaning and know how to ride a motorcycle!

Very interesting post! Wonderful to learn more about you - thanks for the inspiration, Phil!

Hope you have a wonderful day!
